A business needs a reliably available source of power, at a reasonable price. Long blackouts are very disruptive, not to speak of the very high cost of running diesel generators for hours at a time.
The GEK is designed to consume kilos, not tons of biomass daily. The GEK gasifier is clearly a winner for those who have plenty of biomass lying about, such as lumber sawmills, farmers or food processors. Other entrepreneurs will have to obtain biomass. Since biomass is waste by-product, the main expense will not be the biomass itself but transporting it to the gasifier.
It is our hope that the gasifier will generate additional income stream for farmers and agri-business operators
Below are examples of users. The list is by no means complete, and will be expanded periodically as we hear back from users.

Saw mill |
Create new income stream by supplying wood chips to gasifier operators |
Biomass Pellet manufacturer |
Applies in certain limited circumstance. Please contact us for further information. |
Garbage collector |
Must separate appropriate biomass from rest of trash stream |
In addition, businesses can be established to produce and distribute biomass supply:
Type of business |
Suitability of GEK |
Comments |
Sawmill |
Excellent |
Plenty of biomass fuel available |
Nut grower /processor |
Excellent |
Nut shells are superior fuel for gasification |
Food processor |
Very good |
Use peels and husks and bagasse as fuel |
Farm |
Very good |
Can be self sufficient, depending on crops. |
Cell phone tower operator |
Excellent |
Need for constant power supply makes diesel operation very expensive. Cut costs by well over 50% with GEK gasifier |
Retail |
Very good |
With biomass supply in place, can have reliable refrigeration for food storage |
Hotel |
Very good |
With biomass supply in place, can have reliable refrigeration and air conditioning |
Micro-grid operator |
|
See this link. |
Cold-storage operator |
Excellent |
Cold storage is too expensive with diesel. It is economical where there’s supply of biomass. This is a business with critical importance that is practically non-existent in West Africa. |
Government |
Very good |
Supply power in remote installations such as army camps, hospitals, airports and others |
